It is highly unfortunate that the Keane Wonder Mine and Mill along with a lot of surrounding area (including Keane Wonder Springs and Cyty Mill) has been closed to all public entry due to perceived hazards of collapsing structures, dangerous mine adits, and toxic mill waste (which has been there without problem for more than 80 years). Although an NPS document that was issued on September 11, 2008 (yes, 9/11 again!) stated that the reconstruction could take "a few years" to complete, at least some rehabilitation work commenced in March 2009. We hope for rapid progress.
